Club Deportivo 31 de Octubre

Country: Bolivia       City: La Paz          Founded: 21 November 1954

Colors: Green and white           Stadium: Estadio Hernando Siles

Web: ????

Bolivia’s Club Deportivo 31 de Octubre doesn’t exactly have the strongest web presence, so information is a bit scarce. We do know that they were runners up for the Copa Simon Bolivar title in 1966 and competed in the 1967 Libertadores, crashing out of the first round with 5 points in 10 games and a minus 17 goal differential. They  currently play in the Asociation Futbol La Paz Primera A. As for the name, as far as we can tell, there are two possibilities. The first is that they are named after the day that the current Bolivian Flag was adopted, 31 October, 1851. The Second is that they are named after the date on which the Bolivian government nationalized the “big three” tin mining companies: Patino, Hoschschild, and Aramayo. If there are any hardcore 31 de Octubre fans out there who can clarify this, please get in touch.
